The fans have spoken!
The film division of French game publisher Ubisoft plans to turn the popular console game “Watch Dogs” into a major motion picture.
“Watch Dogs” is a stealth game that lets players hack into people’s phones and other devices, as well as the city’s infrastruscture to carry out missions and stop criminals…here’s a clip…
“With 37 percent of the vote in a new Ubisoft-supported online poll, Top Gun and Mission Impossible star Tom Cruise is the fan’s choice to play the role of Aiden Pearce in the upcoming Watch Dogs movie.
Behind Cruise is Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr. (20 percent) and Fight Club lead Edward Norton (19 percent). The next most popular actor for the role is Fast and the Furious actor Paul Walker (11 percent).
Ubisoft launched the online poll last week. Cruise was the immediate front-runner. Other actors on the list include Tobey Maguire, Henry Cavill, Ryan Gosling, Clive Owen, Andrew Garfield, and Brad Pitt.
It is not clear what Ubisoft plans to do with the results of the poll and a representative for the company could not be reached for comment.
Ubisoft has a total of six movies in the pipeline. In addition to Watch Dogs, the French publisher is making movies based on its Far Cry, Rabbids, Assassin’s Creed, Splinter Cell, and Ghost Recon franchises. In all instances, Ubisoft will retain creative control.
Watch Dogs launches later this year on current- and next-generation consoles, as well as PC.”
