The Firm may not have had fighter jets, Samurai warriors, or the Burj Khalifa to cement its action-adventure cred, but it was an intense, white-knuckle ride all the same. And considering it brought in $270 million worldwide, chances are you’ll agree when we call it a top-notch popcorn thriller.
Now NBC is going back to that fertile ground for a series based on the best-selling novel. Picking up the story 10 years after the events of the book, the series ‘The Firm’ follows Mitch McDeere (Josh Lucas) as he emerges from witness protection with his family and tries to pick up the pieces of his law career. As you can image, life without protection isn’t a simple proposition for McDeere and company.
Hoping to fly under the radar with his own small practice, McDeere is forced to join a large law firm for financial reasons. As we saw the last time he went big, things get dicey in a hurry. Not helping matters is the revenge-minded 25-year-old son of the mob boss who died in prison, where McDeere sent him. If you found the movie to be a riveting emotional roller coaster, the series won’t disappoint.
This fast-paced legal thriller airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. on NBC.
