The anticipation continues to build for the film premiere of ‘Mission: Impossible -Ghost Protocol’ this December and as promised, the TomCruise.com team is very excited to introduce you to the new cast members of ‘Ghost Protocol’ as well as reacquaint you with returning cast members with a new series of actor bios! We started off with Tom’s ‘Ghost Protocol’ cast bio and continue the series with a profile of two-time Academy Award nominee, Jeremy Renner (‘The Hurt Locker,’ ‘The Town’).

As ‘Brandt,’ a character with questionable motives, Jeremy joins Tom Cruise (‘Ethan Hunt’) for the fourth installment of the ‘Mission Impossible’ series. The all-star cast also features Simon Pegg, Paula Patton, Michael Nyqvist, Vladimir Mashkov, Josh Holloway, Anil Kappor and Léa Seydoux.

Jeremy appeared alongside director, Brad Bird and several of his ‘M:I’ co-stars when Tom announced the ‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol’ film title in Dubai in October 2010 and you can see Jeremy in action in the high velocity ‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol’ trailer!

“Who are you really, Brandt?”

“We all have our secrets, don’t we Ethan?”

And with that short exchange, the motives of Jeremy Renner’s character, ‘Brandt,’ are called into question.

Playing intense characters with murky morals is nothing new for Jeremy and he brings that intensity when he prepares to play a new character. For example, prior to his Oscar-nominated role as ‘Sergeant First Class William James’ in ‘The Hurt Locker,’ Jeremy spent a week training in the Mojave Desert at the U.S. Army training center, Fort Irwin. He then spent three months in the Jordanian desert filming the movie, while temperatures averaged 120 degrees Fahrenheit and he suffered from food poisoning!

Inspired by true events, the low-budget movie about a team in present-day Baghdad that regularly deals with bomb disposal under the constant danger of sniper fire launched Jeremy’s career into the stratosphere! In addition to his Academy Award Best Actor nomination for ‘Hurt Locker,’ Jeremy was awarded the Breakthrough Actor Award at the Hollywood Film Festival, the Spotlight Award at the Savannah Film Festival and was nominated as Best Actor at the 2008 Independent Spirit Awards. He was also nominated for Breakthrough Actor as well as part of a Best Ensemble Cast nod at the Gotham Awards as for his role as the self-assured ‘Sgt. James.’ ‘The Hurt Locker’ went on to win six Academy Awards, including the Best Director Award for Kathryn Bigelow and Best Picture of the Year.

Jeremy’s committed dedication to realism has been part of his career since he snagged his very first paid acting job while still in college. While Jeremy may leave a lasting impression on audiences, some of his roles that have also left a lasting impression on him, such as playing Jeffrey Dahmer in the 2002 film, ‘Dahmer.’ Earning an Independent Spirit Award nomination for his portrayal of the late serial killer, Jeremy revealed to ‘The Sunday Times’ during a March 2010 interview, “It really messed with me for a couple of years, that role. I couldn’t go into bars alone. I still really can’t. It makes me think about how easy it is to put something in someone’s drink and then have your way with them.”

It was while he was in Vancouver filming ‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol’ that Renner received word that he was nominated for an Academy Award for the second year in a row! With a Best Actor in a Supporting Role nod for his performance as malevolent bank robber, ‘James Coughlin,’ in Ben Affleck’s ‘The Town,’ Jeremy joined his ‘MI’ co-star, Tom Cruise as a multiple Oscar nominee.

In addition to Jeremy’s role in ‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol,’ the in-demand actor has several films in the works, including playing  ‘Hawkeye’ in ‘The Avengers,’ Hansel’ in ‘Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters’ (a grown-up adaption of the Grimm fairytale) and he is also attached to ‘The Bourne Legacy.’

In between his film and theater projects, Jeremy finds the time to write, record and perform his own music brand of contemporary rock, including writing songs for Warner Chapel Publishing and Universal Publishing.

Despite his busy schedule, Jeremy was enthusiastic about filming ‘Ghost Protocol,’ taking time out on the red carpet at the 2011 Academy Awards to talk to ‘Access Hollywood’ about his “awesome” experience working with Tom.

It seems like everyone is getting revved up for the premiere of the super spy flick! ‘Wired’ magazine named ‘Ghost Protocol’ one of 2011′s Most Intriguing Movies, ‘Empire’ magazine featured the IMF team on the December 2011 issue and along with the intense movie poster released by Paramount Pictures, we can certainly see why!

Premiering nationwide on December 21, 2011, with an early release in IMAX theaters on December 16, 2011, ‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol’ was directed by Brad Bird and stars Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Paula Patton, Michael Nyqvist, Vladimir Mashkov, Josh Holloway, Anil Kappor and Léa Seydoux.

We can hardly wait to find out if ‘Brandt’ betrays ‘Ethan Hunt’ or if he really is a good guy. What do you think? We would love to hear from you on Twitter, Facebook, Orkut and Weibo.
