“He was completely ‘Stacee Jaxx’ and he’s just one of the most amazing people I’ve met in my life,” Mary J. Blige enthused to Access Hollywood about Tom Cruise’s performance in ‘Rock of Ages.’ Mary J. also said she was completely blown away by his performance, telling the entertainment news outlet, “Tom Cruise can really, really sing. No B.S. He blew me away!”
Mary J. wasn’t the only one raving about the upcoming film.
“The movie is incredibly different than anything you’ve ever seen. It’s weird, but weird-good.” –Adam Shankman
That’s what rock’n director Adam Shankman told Access Hollywood when he took some time out of his busy schedule to attend Variety’s Third Annual Power of Women Luncheon last week.
When asked about his all-star cast, including Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin (@AlecBaldwin), Julianne Hough (@JulianneHough), Russell Brand (@RustyRockets), Mary J. Blige (@MaryJBlige), Malin Akerman, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Diego Boneta (@DiegoBoneta), Adam (@AdammShankman) enthused, “it’s people you would never imagine singing and dancing (and) killing it!”
Adam says that “Tom has an amazing voice” and co-star, Mary J. Blige believes he has the moves to go with it! The Grammy-winning singer told FOX411’s Pop Tarts column, “Tom is going to make you believe that he’s a total rock star. I believed it. I don’t know what he did to get into it, but when he showed up his body was moving like every rock n’ roll star I have ever seen.”
Even mega 80s band, Def Leppard, was blown away by Tom’s performance when they visited the set and watched Tom (as ‘Stacee Jaxx’) sing their hit, “Pour Some Sugar on Me.” As Adam gleefully revealed to Access Hollywood, “they [Def Leppard] were like, ‘Oh my God! He’s better than us!’ It was incredible.”
Although the entertainment world has been buzzing since the TomCruise.com team first revealed the shirtless, tattooed picture of Tom rocking out as ‘Stacee Jaxx’ , many of our fans were lucky enough to see Tom and the ‘ROA’ cast in person during the ‘Rock of Ages’ live concert.
Fans dressed up in their favorite ‘80s outfit and had some head banging fun as movie extras as the ‘RoA’ cast performed Bon Jovi‘s “Dead or Alive” and Journey‘s “Don’t Stop Believin’” live for the concert scene.
