Radiohead Joins Tom Cruise & Bill Gates on the Chinese Microblog Sina Weibo

TomCruise.com welcomes Radiohead to the world of Weibo!

As some of you techno geeks may already know, Sina Weibo is the Chinese version of Twitter. The TomCruise.com team launched our Weibo channel in February of this year, so we got really excited when we heard the news over the weekend that Radiohead, one of our favorite bands and universally respected digital media trailblazer, launched a Weibo channel and posted their first message…

According to ABC News, Radiohead’s only message so far, “testing the weibo,” has been forwarded by more than 10,000 people while their channel has more than 67,000 followers to date.

Huffington Post and other news outlets note that Radiohead joins a number of U.S. personalities already on Weibo, including Tom Cruise, Microsoft founder Bill Gates, and NBA players Ron Artest and Kevin Garnett. Weibo was abuzz with the speculation by Radiohead fans that the band’s foray into international microblogging could be a sign that Radiohead is considering their first concert in mainland China.
