THE LORD OF THE RINGS. This movie has inspired me in so many ways. From music, art design, costume, etc. I think I have watched the extended ‘making of’ DVDs at least a dozen times each. I think someone could make these videos into a college course for writing, editing, etc, it has so much to offer in so many ways. I loved the books, but Peter Jackson really did a wonderful job, getting so many people who were as passionate as he was about this project. Passion is the best hard worker and the best inspirer. And watching it has inspired me to become a better artist and writer, to reach for a higher standard in my work.

For me, i would have to say Happiness was an inspirational movie. the context of being everything you can be even when you own nothing and have nothing, things can still happen to you and for, if you just believe. The fact that it was based on a true story and not fictional, i believe these points hit home with me and made me strive to be better than i am.

Eat, Pray, Love.. such an amazing story & all the more meaningful because its true.
I just want to do it all!!!
It Inspires me to travel more. To be in charge of my own happiness. To be brave & learn new things. To sometimes selfish. To be myself.

“Regarding Henry” inspired me to be a kinder person. To look at the world with a child’s eyes.

Al Pacino in Serpico. It probably seems a weird choice for a woman, but I ended up being a cop and I remembered how he stood up for what he believed in and refused to become corrupted when everyone else was” on the Take”

A movie that had inspired me a lot and it still has is Peaceful Warrior, not a blockbuster but it`s based on a true story and made me think that whatever happened to you, never give up on your dreams and wished and If you really want that you`ll have to pursue that until you get it. If you allow me, The Persuit of Happyness is also on this line and made me think a lot.

The film that most inspires me is “The Color Purple” cuz it tells me even when nobody hears you, your heart knows how to get throgh!

  • Kevin Sampaio

The movie Clerks inspired me to want to be a director. Kevin Smith made that movie with his own money and friends and he wrote one of the funniest and most honest films about people in their 20′s ever. He was able to make a whole career out of this tiny independent film because he was honest and knew these characters. That is why the 1994 comedy Clerks inspired me.

  • Philemon

I have been inspired by one of Tom Cruise’s movie. It is VALKARIE

Risky Business; It’s plain and simple, Risky Business pleases for the same reasons that Ferris Bueller’s day off does it is a feel good film that every male growing up can relate to. Everybody has gone through the same delusions, panics and anxieties Joel experiences in the way of getting in trouble from your dad to getting into University. It makes you feel you can do the same stupid stuff and get away with it, that’s the mark of an inspirational film; relating with the main character and wanting to go out live the way he did and have the same experiences had!!
I cannot express my love for this film enough it is one of my fondest memories watching it with my friends then fantasizing about how awesome it would have been to do the same stupid stuff Joel did.

  • http://awesomebmovies.com/ Matthew Dowling

There’s so many Karate Kid, Dead Poets Society, etc.

But I watching the ending to Mr. Holland’s Opus the other day and what a fantastic film that one is. The idea of an artist, a musician to be exact, who takes a job teaching music, just until his career takes off… and of course his son ends up being deaf, so how will they share in the music?

Before he knows it decades have passed, and his music career never happened, and probably like many teachers, he feels like he didn’t accomplish much… Now, it’s time for his retirement. And ALL of his students come back to see him off. Some of which have gone off to have great success in music, teaching themselves and even Congress. It is then that they all perform for him, while he conducts the orchestra of his life that we hear the Opus he’s been writing for decades. And it is the first time he gets to hear it too. It’s his family that made this happen, so he could know how important he really is.

‘Mr. Holland’s Opus’ celebrates, the arts, teachers, and family. I find THAT incredibly inspiring. The whole idea of how much 1 person can make a difference. How 1 life, can effect so many… -Matthew Dowling

Front of The Class. It made me understand better what Tourette’s syndrome is and the difficulties people with this condition have, and Brad Cohen, with the difficulties this syndrome gave him, managed to not give up and do what he really wanted (be a teacher). This movie made me realize you can do anything you propose yourself, and if you really want it you’ll find the way to do it, no matter what people tell you or what condition you may have.

#The Blind Side with Sandra Bullock.

I think if everyone gives his share of generosity to someone who needs help, as shown in the film, the world would need less people, less violence and more people realized and willing to reciprocate.
Well, that’s what I think and I’ve been trying to give my share of generosity when possible.

A Few Good Men inspired a major understanding in the meaning of being a good person. Just being nice to others is not enough. We should do good for others in and around our lives as often as we can. Never take a blinds eye to correcting wrongs when possible and by serving as an example to others.

it’s message of “if you build it, he will come” translates to if you listen to your inner Spirit AND take action AND let go of your attachment to the outcome – the outcome will be beyond your comprehension. the movie that inspired my life and forces of all days is the movie TOP GUN, every time I leave work before I listen to music from the movie TOP GUN, TAKE MY BREATH AWAY, this song always gives me strength. Whenever I won a girlfriend was this music that we listened and that was music that gave a perfect climate. I was kissing Tom Cruise actress Kelly McGillis, and every time I’m in a romantic moment with my wife is the music we listen to, and is the TOP GUN movie we watched. I have always been inspired the Tom Cruise character (maverick) I always had the sunglasses that movie that Tom Cruise wore. When I was younger I wanted to be a fighter pilot, jet pilot, just because Tom Cruise flew them too, and I always bought the jackets look like Tom Cruise in the movie TOP GUN, full of drawings and symbols of the Air Force. And my dream is to buy a bike like the movie Top Gun for me to feel like Tom Cruise (Maverick), thank you all.

I’m hopelessly committed to hope (pun intended). So SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION has inspired me over the years. My two favorite lines from that film? (1) “Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things — and no good thing ever dies.” And (2) “Get busy livin’ or get busy dyin.” In a world (sorry, couldn’t resist) where hope is a dangerous thing, I love the message of this film.

  • http://www.crtdtpexpress.net Cirrelia

Primal Fear is a movie that inspires me because of its plot and characters, especially Ed Norton’s Aaron/Roy part. Having been fooled the first time I watched the film, I became enamored by Norton’s creative exploration of a boy with a “fake” split personality. Richard Gere is also endearing as the lawyer who also falls for Aaron’s feigned illness. It is the kind of psychological drama that a person can watch over and over.

  • Nyla Woodin

My inspirational movie is Super 8. I have always wanted to be an actor but thought I was a teenager and no one wanted to hire me. But after seeing that movie it told me maybe I should give it a shot anyway. And now im going to a well respected acting school in town (:

  • Karen Hadley

To Kill a Mockingbird. I first saw this movie when I was about Scout’s age. I had no daddy at home so I watched those dynamics of people caring for each other and protecting each other. I saw how the people in the movie learned from a strong man who was not afraid to stand up for what he believed. I learned there was terrible injustice in the world and that it broke hearts. I learned that it’s good to have friends when you are going out to get into trouble. I learned that someone who is scary and different may just be a person with his own problems. This was all new territory for me. It helped me grow into a better, stronger person. But it was just a movie, you could say. I like the fact that Tom often picks scripts that deal with some of life’s moral or intellectual dilemmas and gives us some examples of overcoming them. It’s entertainment with a twist that can, if we are paying attention, make us a little stronger or more caring when we walk out of the movie theater than when we walked in.

There has been so many wonderful movies that I have seen during my 22 years and some have really impacted for various reasons but the one that really sticks out has to be Gladiator. I had just turned 10 when it reached cinemas, too young to get in but there was so much buzz surrounding it that I was well informed about what the movie was about. I made do with articles and news reports until it came out on video and I could actually watch it. Well, I was blown away! The film itself was incredible. The special effects, the acting, the score and the gorgeous scenery. I became obsessed with the Colosseum and it’s history. I wanted to know about it so my dad bought me an art book. Ever since then I became hooked on Roman and Greek architecture, art and sculptures. I couldn’t believe that people could make such incredible things with no modern means yet they seemed to be ten times more beautiful and eye opening than things today.
Thanks to this film I studied Art History and loved it. But the inspiration didn’t end with the credits. My video included deleted scenes and a making of featurette, something I had never bothered to look at on any other film before. I couldn’t believe the work, time and effort that actually went in to making a movie! So many people working around the clock to make sure that everything was done perfectly. I knew that acting was something I wanted to do from early on but seeing how movies were made awakened my interest in what goes on behind the camera too. I love seeing how filmmakers bring their vision to life and seeing how fearless most of them are. Ever since then I always made sure I bought the DVD with all the extras. I wanted and needed to know how this happens, how the heck they came up with that and how this was possible.
My love for film grew and matured thanks to Gladiator and I plan to go to University next year and not only further my interest in Art and acting but study film making. :)

“To Kill a Mockingbird.”. Every time I see the courtroom scene in which the black people stand up to honor Atticus Finch, I get goose bumps. Atticus Finch defended a wrongly-accused black man in the Old South. Everyone should have his courage and integrity!! It is alway inspiring to watch that movie.

  • Rhonda glisson

Somewhere In Time. With Jane Seymour and the great Chistopher Reeves. It was so romantic and defined that true love can travel back in time if your heart truly wants too. The power of love even if it lasts only for a few days, can change your life forever. It inspired me to love the person you are with every day as if it could be your last’

  • Sarah Villalobos

one movie that really inspired me is Never Say Never:) I’m not just saying that because I’m a belieber, but because it makes me feel that maybe just maybe living my dream isn’t as crazy and impossible as I thought.

  • Jonathan Rubenstein

One of the movies that has inspired me is Taken with Liam Neeson. When I saw it, I was motivated to get involved in local anti-human trafficking efforts. Eventually, I was inspired to take a course called Illicit Trafficking in college, which convinced me that I need to pursue an anti-human trafficking career. Currently, I am one semester away from graduating and not only have I helped set up a safe house in Oklahoma City for those rescued from human/sex trafficking, but I also currently have an internship with Oklahomans Against Trafficking in Humans (OATH), all because Taken inspired me to get involved with anti-human trafficking efforts.

  • Joseph Leszczynski

October Sky without question the most inspirational movie i’ve ever seen. Joe Johnston did a fantastic job at recreating the character of Homer Hickham as having vision and being bold enough to chase the vision recklessly depicting the passion of youth. The fact that he accomplished his goal in such realistic fashion shows that love above all for something gives you the greatest chance for success.

  • http://quantumfires.com J Perry Kelly

Avatar. I believe suspension of disbelief through commercial fiction represents Earth’s best hope of the public awakening to its environmental danger. I say this because it’s human nature to filter and spin factual (non-fiction) input to support our preferred believes. Films like “Knight and Day” (which I loved!) prove that energy-related seeds can be planted in the viewer’s mind through fast-paced action, which is what I hope to do. I cited Avatar, however, because it was so blatantly pro-green. A respected voice in TV recently suggested that pro-green TV scripts would be a hard sell since the message would antagonize major advertisers. In this respect, Avatar’s success inspires me to forge ahead with big screen, pro-green plots.

Philadelphia inspired me a lot because it taught me what is tolerance how to go over the fear of the unknow and that love has no color no sex and is stronger than disease

  • CJ Williamson

Strangely enough it WAS a movie starring Tom Cruise that made we want to be a filmmaker. In 2000, I was living in England studying to become an English professor and one day write the next great American novel. I went out with my girlfriend to see PT Anderson’s MAGNOLIA for my birthday on a cold February night. It was Tom Cruise’s performance as Frank TJ Mackey that I remember most. I was so moved by that character’s breakdown at his father’s bedside (which I later learned was completely unscripted) that I actually had to look down at the floor for several minutes. So moved that I told my girlfriend that night that I figured out what I wanted to do with my life. I want to do to people what PT Anderson did to me. Move me so thoroughly that I would never be the same.

Personally I like Jerry Maguire alot !! Its inspire me alot . Always Speaks your mind.Fight against heartless Business people .Your (Tom Cruise) performance was exceptional .i ve always liked u as action Hero who has extremely charming look and done heart throbbing stunts !! The SENNA Movie has inspired me this week;or I should say that it’s re-inspired me. Just a truly wonderful film which must be seen in a cinema. It’s gets better with every viewing and even non-F1 fans seem to be blown away by it too, on so many different levels. I hope that it gets a good USA cinema release. A ‘Best Documentary Film’ Oscar 2012 ? it should be up for the ‘Best Film’ in my opinion.

  • Deanna

“Amelie” is such a well-crafted movie in that images from it have lingered in my mind even years after seeing it. The director uses color, facial expressions, body language, curiosity and dialogue so well, that the movie glides along effortlessly. The way it is filmed with close-ups, takes it to a personal level. The movie has inspired me to write a screen play (in progress) of my own. Whether it will amount to anything is unknown, but I’ll enjoy writing it regardless.

I would say first had to be the first Star Wars movie that came out…I have been a fan ever since and it reawakened my thoughts and beliefs that are centered much around buddhist teachings and eastern philosophy. Then when Avatar came out…I must say it also has inspired me to follow my inner beliefs and philosophy of what life is all about.

    Jerry Maguire.
You know, sometimes you can make a decision in life that you feel is absolutely right and others may disagree, but if you truly believe in it, then continue to pursue it. In the end, your life is yours so do what makes you happy, and once others see that, admiration and inspiration will follow.

I like your many movies but for me the most inspirational movie is “THE LAST SAMURAI” the best thing i understand from this movie is that “Soul of a man stop him to fight against another man who has all human characters ,others wants to buy him with a lot of money but he deside to fight for a good resion for a good man and for his own satisfaction.”

  • Patricie

for me is one of the best movie the last samurai, is full of hope and what is important is full of compassion, bravery and heroism accounts with its own victory over the Demons, and Tom is simply amazing.

Hi, one of the movies that probably most inspired me has been Beautiful Mind, relating the biography of John Nash. I had already seen this movie once but before I started to study the subject psicopathology at Psychology. Some months ago I chose this movie to analyze John Nash with regards to this schizofrenia. And for me it was an amazing experience since it taught me that love, believe, positive energy go much beyond science. Despite the fact that the psychatrist told that it was impossible to live without the treatment and that the schizofrenia would become always worse, John Nash succeeded with perseverance, with his own strenght and believe and the inconditional love and support of his wife to accept his disease and live with it. I think he and his wife were two amazing persons society can learn very much from.

  • Alison Doran

    Ground Hog Day
    starring Bill Murray
This movie had a Zen quality to it that I could watch over and over and get more out of it each time. It is true to life in that I sometimes relive key moments in my life, playing an incident over in my mind and imagining the outcome if I’d reacted differently. The ending has a spiritual message… He moved on only after he chose to become helpful to others around him.

I know you must have got a lot of names of Hollywood films but I will give you something different. Hopefully no one must have picked any Indian films, so I will give you my choices three of them in fact. Here goes,
    1. No One Killed Jessica (It showcases the power of media and what people can achieve if they are united in a single cause.)
    2. Three Idiots (It is a film about life, friendship, love, and above all to have the courage to be different to pursue your dreams.)
    3. Udaan (It is a film about hope and making the right choices and being able to stand by them against all odds.)

Jerry Macguire. I really liked how the character had to confront how his work and his decisions were affecting people and he had to work his way back to his own integrity. I liked how it wasn’t easy for him to do this. Oh and The Last Samuari rocked. I really liked how the people treated each other and how the Samuari had this really cool code. I don’t think I’m really communicating the depth of how this movie affected me but… trust me, it really impacted me emotionally. ’nuff said!

War of the Worlds ( starring Tom Cruise)

I’ve seen every Tom Cruise Movie since Risky Business. They are all exceptional. However, I think War of the Worlds is a masterpiece. And it has nothing to do with the special effects or the alien invasion. The magic is in the relationship that Tom Cruise creates as a divorced dad father with his two children. From the moment Tom Cruise starts bantering with his rebellious teenage son ( how about a kick in the teeth?) to the close bond with his daughter while ordering food and interacting like your typical parent, the audience is immersed. This is real. Tom Cruise puts the audience in a hypnotic trance from there on. The movie always maskes me realize how precious my children are and how I would do anything for them. Oh, I have to add this in, you have to see the scene from Vanilla Sky when Tom Cruise is addressing a room full of doctors regarding surgery options. ” Play Jazz, Fxxk my hand!” Absolutely Priceless. It’s worth watching the whole movie just to see that scene !

Magnolia touched every nerve of the social situations human beings can find themselves in at one time or another. That film showed the good, bad and the ugly of the classes and the selfish needs we all have to find accepance from our peers.
I would like to see Tom in Aldous Huxley’s ‘Brave New world’. He is the perfect actor to play Bernard.

I like the story of Minority Report. That don’t inspired me, but the possible future vision and the bad that we coud have with wrong guys in power positions. They use torture to obtain results that were positive for the future societies.
The final result of that was wrong charges.
