TRAILER: Tom Cruise Collaborators Gang Up in Cowboys and Aliens preview!

Tom Cruise worked with several awesome and prolific actors on Knight and Day, including the busy Paul Dano who appears in the upcoming genre mash-up, Cowboys and Aliens! Dano, who collaborated with Tom as the kind and eccentric scientist Simon Feck in Knight and Day, joins an impressive ensemble cast in the upcoming Western-meets-Sci-Fi flick from director Jon Faverau.

Cowboys and Aliens marks the third feature Dano’s acted in since last summer’s work with Tom, following a pair of smaller independent movies in The Extra Man and Meek’s Cutoff. This time he takes a supporting role as Percy Dolarhyde in the crossover film based on a graphic novel of the same name. He stars alongside lead Daniel Craig as Jake Lonergan, a mysterious cowboy imbued with mystical powers who rides into a dusty Arizona town in the late 1800s. Shunned by the locals, led by Harrision Ford as Col. Woodrow Dolarhyde, it becomes apparent that Lonergan serves as the only defense from weird and terrible attacks from the sky. You know, typical Western tropes.

The movie is set to release in the United States on July 29.

Just released last week, the theatrical trailer for Cowboys and Aliens is below. Keep your eyes peeled for Mr. Dano during some brief shots:

One word: whoa. It’s as though you’re catching the best of both worlds. The rugged, no-holds-barred toughness of the Old West. The spacey, transcendent action of science fiction. It’s like a plate from a film buffet.

In fact, another of Tom collaborators - Mission: Impossible III screenwriters Roberto Orci and AlexKurtzman – picked up the pen for Cowboys and Aliens in addition to producing the new film. Screenwriter Damon Lindelof – famed for co-creating and writing the epic television series LOST with Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol producer J.J. Abrams – co-wrote the script.

Not only is this movie’s cast filled with stars, it’s production talent is even more stellar! Orci and Kurtzman teams with Oscar-winners and Tom Cruise producers Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard and Brian Grazer on the film. That’s a star-studded back lot.

While, I think Daniel Craig was miscast as James Bond, I think he might do well in this movie.
