With the launch of the comedy Paul last week, Simon Pegg, a Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol co-star, has now put a comic twist on nearly every film genre. Starting with the self-styled “rom-zom-com” (romantic zombie comedy) Shaun of the Dead, Pegg tackled comedy. He paired with Shaun director Edgar Wright a second time in a spoof of nearly every police action movie with Hot Fuzz.
He again reunites with collaborator and co-star Nick Frost to take on science fiction in Paul, which at once is a buddy comedy and alien encounter movie. Along with Kristin Wiig of Saturday Night Live fame and the titular alien voiced by comedian Seth Rogan, Paul features some of the brightest stars in the comedy galaxy.
Paul launched last week, introducing science fiction fans to Pegg and Frost as English science fiction fans who discover an alien following a highway car accident while visiting important sites from the lore of extraterrestrial sightings. The trio find themselves on the run from both malevolent government and vengeful rural hunters, while seeking help and comic relief from a dumbfounded camper-park worker (Wiig).

That’s it, we’re sold! As fans of science fiction, the acting talent in this film and of comedy in general, the team at TomCruise.com is excited to see Paul this weekend. The Greg Mottola-directed film’s got everything we’re looking for: unlikely heroes, a wise-cracking alien, and all manner of thrilling chases.
We’re also excited for the movie as Simon Pegg is a big part of the Mission: Impossible franchise, with the British comedian revisiting his role as IMF computer whiz Benji Dunn in the upcoming Tom Cruise movie, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. He took a moment on the red carpet for the premiere of Paul to say a couple nice things about both the filming of MI: GP and share his experience working with Tom.
Take a look below at the film brought to us by the folks over at Access Hollywood:
