Judging by the trailer above, the new Katie Holmes movie, The Romantics, sets the screen ablaze with romantic tension. Luckily for fans of romantic dramas or those searching for a perfect date night, the film has been given an expanded release in Los Angeles and New York City following its premiere a few weeks back. Originally opening on two screens – one in either coastal metropolis – the wedding day ensemble drama now is screening in four Southern California theaters and nine in the New York. That’s a seven-fold increase in the opportunities to take someone special out for a romantic evening. 
UPDATED THEATERS: The Romantics has expanded even further, now hitting screens in Boston and San Francisco Bay Area. For cinema lovers in Beantown and near the Golden Gate, you’re in luck for a date night film this weekend! Check the listings below for a theater near you.

The Romantics, which opened in limited release on Sept. 10, stars Katie Holmes as the pensive third side to a love triangle between fiancées played by Josh Duhamel (of Transformers fame) and Anna Paquin (from television’s True Blood and Oscar fame). Set in the night prior to Duhamel and Paquin’s nuptials amongst a gaggle of college friends, the tension comes to a head leaving the cinematic beau in the position of choosing which woman will stay his true love!

Aside from Katie’s major league co-stars, The Romantics also collects a talented ensemble including Elijah Wood, Adam Brody, Malin Akerman, Dianna Aragon, and Candice Bergen. The movie was directed by Galt Niederhoffer, based on her script and book of the same name.
