Everyone’s favorite foul-mouthed producer, Les Grossman, is in development discussion for a return to the silver screen, this time in a film all his own! Tom Cruise is in talks with Paramount Pictures to reprise the character – an amalgam of every rude, hyper-aggressive movie mogul to walk the earth – based on his role from the 2008 film Tropic Thunder.
Saturday Night Live’s Bill Hader – who joined Tom as Grossman’s assistant in Tropic Thunder – provided some comments about the proposed “Untitled Les Grossman Project” in an interview for MTV. Check it out!
You heard that right – Michael Bacall is set to write the script following work on Scott Pilgrim vs. The World! That’s a solid scribe to pen the intriguing – and explosively funny – project.
Tom was named along with Tropic Thunder director and star Ben Stiller as a producer for the film. Stiller commented on the announcement:
“Les Grossman’s life story is an inspiring tale of the classic human struggle to achieve greatness against all odds. He has assured me he plans to quote… I am honored to be working with him.”
Work on the “Untitled Les Grossman Project” was announced just on the heels of Tom’s performance at the MTV Movie Awards in June. The lead up to the awards show also featured videos of Grossman taking meetings with Twilight stars Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner.
We feel we speak for Tom Cruise fans everywhere that the character of Les makes us laugh the hardest, especially when we’re most shocked by what he’s saying.
