Mission: Impossible III Director J.J. Abrams’ Undercovers on NBC

J.J. Abrams, the director behind Mission: Impossible III starring Tom Cruise, and current collaborator on Mission: Impossible IV, has a new TV show!

According to the L.A. Times, Abrams’ new drama Undercovers will begin airing this fall on NBC. The show is an “action-packed spy drama” that follows the lives of Steven Bloom (Boris Kodjoe) and his wife Samantha (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), both former CIA agents who have to resume their old jobs after years in retirement.

The Hollywood Reporter quotes Angela Bromstad, NBC primetime president, as saying, “Having J.J. on our creative team is a great reason for celebration. In ‘Undercovers,’ J.J. and Josh have found a breakout couple that is rich in character and brimming with romance and action.  We feel he’s found the perfect cast.” Abrams directed, co-wrote, and produced the show along with Josh Reims, who began working with Abrams on Felicity.

Congrats, J.J.! We just hope this won’t stop you from working on MI:4! ;)

And just for fun, here’s a clip from Mission:Impossible III from the TomCruise.com movie timeline:
