Actress Viola Davis, one of Tom Cruise’s co-stars in his new movie Knight and Day, has been nominated for a Tony Award!

According to the New York Times, Viola Davis has been nominated for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Play for her role as Rose in the Broadway revival of August Wilson’s Fences. Furthermore, her co-star Denzel Washington was nominated for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Play, and Fences itself was nominated for Best Revival of a Play. Davis’ category also includes nominees Laura Linney in Time Stands Still, Jan Maxwell in The Royal Family, Valerie Harper in Looped, and Linda Lavin in Collected Stories.
