Last Friday, Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz stopped by The Oprah Winfrey Show to chat with Oprah about their latest summer movie, Knight and Day, how they enjoy working together, what fame has brought them, Cameron’s delicious oatmeal recipe and more!

In his new action comedy Knight and Day, Tom plays a superspy on the run, who drags an unlucky-in-love woman played by Cameron Diaz along with him. From running on rooftops in Austria to crazy car chases on the highway, Tom said he performed most of the stunts for the movie himself, and even helped design action-packed stunts, including one where Tom flips Cameron around on a motorcycle to shoot at the bad guys while he drives.
“I think Cameron Diaz shooting guns is very cool,” said Tom, laughing. “I think I got more excited about it, and kept saying to Cameron, ‘This is so cool, this is so cool.’ Any time Cameron was with a gun, doing spy stuff, that was a lot of fun.”

“I’m always thinking of different stunts,” he said. “I look at buildings and think, how could I climb it? How could I jump out?…When I was a little kid, I used to go up on a roof and jump off the roof into the snow and do flips and stuff, and now I get to do it in movies.”
“I was so excited about it, because I was thinking Tom got to do all the stunts. And I kept saying, ‘Tom, do I get to do some stunts soon?’” said Cameron. ”I do get to drive. I did a 180.”
In fact, they caught Tom and Cameron practicing on some stuntwork for the movie. Check out the video below:
Both Tom and Cameron has high praise for each other. When Oprah asked Tom to describe Cameron in three words, her gave her four: “Bright, fun, talented, and generous.”

Cameron explained that working with Tom was rewarding because of the high expectation he holds for his co-stars. “He has a very high standard. So that’s a wonderful thing,” she said. “That’s what you know you’re getting when you’re working with Tom. You know that you’re getting someone who is dedicated to bringing the best product forward possible, and to do that, you have to be engaged in the process.”

When asked about fame, Tom explained, “I never wanted to be famous. I wanted to make movies. I want to entertain people.” Nevertheless, he still loves meeting fans, noting that, “Most people are just really warm. They just want to say hello, and I enjoy that.”
Cameron agreed, saying that, “You’re always there in some way, and Tom and I have been very fortunate that we’ve been able to sustain or position as famous people, only because we get to do what we love to do, which is make movies.”
Both Tom and Cameron are loving life. “Life is very good. I’m very happy…I feel very lucky,” said Tom.
“I couldn’t ever dream a dream this big,” said Cameron, “But it’s not like I’ve reached the pinnacle now; I’m still in the journey. It’s not over ’til it’s over, you know?”
