Knight and Day Movie Actor Marc Blucas Speaks at Mercyhurst College in PA

From the Official Blog:

In ‘Knight and Day’, co-starring with Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz, Marc Blucas plays the firefighter ex-boyfriend of Cameron.  Marc Blucas has had a shining, stellar career, starting from his first bit part role in a Whoopi Goldberg film, to a long acting stint as Sarah Michelle Gellar’s boyfriend in “Buffy, the Vampire Slayer.”

This did not elude Mercyhurst College’s Communication Department, who chose Blucas to speak to Mercyhurst College Communications students last December 17, 2009. Mercyhurst College is a Catholic College founded in Erie, Pennsylvannia.  Blucas was born in Butler, PA and graduated from Girard High School in Girard, PA.

The interesting thing about Blucas’ speech is that he didn’t think his story was interesting enough to tell. We beg to disagree! He’s played roles in films with Mel Gibson, Reese Witherspoon, Eddie Murphy and Candice Bergen, among others. If that’s not interesting, we don’t know what is!

“I’m honored and flattered they asked me. But I don’t feel my story is that inspirational or that I’ve reached a point in my life where I have that important of a message to send.”

He calls himself a professional dream chaser more than anything else.

“It’s really about being a professional dream chaser. It’s more about having the drive to do what it takes to make those dreams comes true.”

Blucas has this to say about his role in the upcoming movie ‘Knight and Day’:

“It’s easily the biggest movie I’ve been a part of, and I had the time of my life. I grew up with ‘Top Gun’ and ‘All the Right Moves.’ When people ask me where I’m from in Pennsylvania, my stock answer is usually, ‘I’m from in-between ‘The Deer Hunter’ and ‘All the Right Moves.’”

We can’t wait to see Mark Blucas in action in ‘Knight and Day.’ It will be fun to watch him as Cameron Diaz’s firefighter ex-boyfriend, while Tom Cruise plays Milner, Cameron’s fugitive partner-in-crime.
