From the Official www.TomCruise.com:
Peter Sarsgaard, one of the stars of Tom Cruise’s new movie ‘Knight and Day,’ is mentioned in a special “Awards Watch” segment of the Hollywood Reporter for his most recent film, ‘An Education.’
The film, written by British novelist Nick Hornby, is based on a memoir by Lynn Barber, who wrote about being in love with an older man at 16 in suburban London, circa 1961. “It introduced me to a Britain I didn’t know much about — the 1960s that was before the ‘real’ 1960s,” said Hornby. “I’d never read anything about it, and I thought it said interesting things about the country and young women.”
Peter Sarsgaard plays David, the older man who seduces teenage Jenny (played by newcomer Carey Mulligan) and introduces her to a world outside her own. Directed by Lone Scherfig, the rest of the cast includes Alfred Molina, Cara Seymour, Olivia Williams, Emma Thompson, Dominic Cooper, and Rosamund Pike.
While it’s too early to discuss who could win awards, Variety is already predicting that both Sarsgaard and Molina could possibly be nominated for Best Supporting Actor in the Oscar race, while the star of the film, Carey Mulligan, is being talked about for a Best Actress nomination. Bravo!
In ‘Knight and Day,’ Sarsgaard will play a much different role: he’s a federal agent hellbent on tracking down Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz, who are on the run trying to protect a battery that holds the key to an infinite power source.
