‘Far and Away,’ the epic romantic adventure directed by Ron Howard and starring Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, is a film of breathtaking views and larger-than-life adventure set in 1892 Ireland and America.
Irishman Joseph Donnelly (Cruise) leaves Ireland and travels to America with his oppressive landlord’s daughter, Shannon Christie (Kidman), in search of owning land. When they arrive in Boston, Joseph gives a try at professional bare-fisted boxing, but when the plan fails, the two must suffer a devastating winter and still keeping their dream of ownership alive. Meanwhile, Shannon’s parents travel to America to find her, and Joseph heads out west to work on the railroad, where he arrives in Oklahoma Territory just in time for the Land Run of 1893.
